Text Box: COUNCIL ANGRY AT LACK
OF NPS INFORMATION RE TANKS
By Jerry Bodlander

Feeling blindsided by the plan to install above-ground propane tanks at Clara Barton house, the mayor asked the park service officials at their December meeting to provide a document explaining why the town wasn’t told of the plan to install the tanks until very late. Andrew Wenchel acknowledged the situation was “unfortunate” and that the opportunity for public comment should have come a long time ago.
Councilmembers asked the officials to volunteer all appropriate documents and
said they don’t want to have to play word games and submit Freedom of Information requests for documents that should be provided.
The assumption that the park would be a good neighbor is ‘’wearing thin,’’ the mayor said, especially in the light of this incident.
Text Box: PANCAKE BREAKFAST
BREAKS ALL RECORDS

A huge crowd of convivial Glen Echo residents gathered at the town hall on Dec. 13 for the annual holiday pancake breakfast, which was especially delicious this year.
For the first time, guests could order omelettes and pancakes using a wide assortment of ingredients and made to order by a Mr. Omelette duo hired for the occasion.
There was an additional huge selection of sweet breads and pastries provided by many of the residents attending.
The ingredients for gingerbread houses were again provided by the Carter-Graham family and children enjoyed making their own very lavishly decorated concoctions.
Set-up for the party was handled by Matt McFarland, Angie Zeidenberg, Raya Bodnarchuk and Jan Shaut.
The clean-up was accomplished by Julia Wilson, Willem Polak, Raya Bodnarchuk, Melinda Henneberger, Nicole Fraser and Harley Feldbaum, Steve and Andrea Matney, some volunteers from the Glen Echo Baptist Church, and probably others as well.
Several pairs of gloves and a few hats were donated for the benefit of a women’s shelter in Bethesda.
