Text Box: because this whole area is an archaic archeological site that cannot be disturbed any more than is absolutely necessary.
Matt McFarland, another neighbor, said that since the fix was temporary, “why not drop the propane tank back in the ground?’’ for now. He said that as a contractor, he would be happy to donate his labor as a service to the community. “We buried a 1,000 gallon tank in our yard and it was pretty easy, and your tanks are so huge that it’s going to take a big fence to hide them. What if I could save you some money?’’
Mr. Wenchel responded that they only contract with small businesses, usually start-ups. Mr. McFarland said he was pretty sure he’d qualify, after only five years in business, but Mr. Wenchel said that the bidding process was too far along and could not be disrupted now.
“Don’t you typically talk to your neighbors?’’ before going forward with construction projects, Willem Polak asked. “Not for maintenance,’’ James told him. Still, he agreed to look into whether it might still be feasible to put the new tanks underground, and would try to get back to those at the meeting before Thanksgiving (too late for The Echo deadline)..
