Text Box: RESIDENTS URGED TO ATTEND
HEARING ON MACARTHUR BLVD

A public hearing on a proposal to “construct and improve” MacArthur Blvd. from Rt. I-d495 to Oberlin Avenue in Glen Echo will be held on Sept. 11 at 3:00 p.m. at 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, in the first floor auditorium.
The estimated cost is $9,110,000.00.
The proposal is to:
*	Construct and improve an 8-foot shared use bike path with a minimum of a five-foot green space between the shoulder and the bike path on the south side of MacArthur Blvd.;
*	Construct a three-foot shoulder on both the north and south sides of MacArthur Blvd. by narrowing the travel lane from 11 to 10 feet and adding 2-feet in each direction;
*	Install lighting for the I-495 capital beltway underpass;
*	Reconstruct the super structure on the existing trolley bridge north of Glen Echo Park to carry the off-road shared use path; 
*	reconfigure the existing parking at Captain’s Market at Tomlinson Avenue;
*	reconfigure the Clara Barton Parkway access at Ericsson Avenue;
*	Construct a retaining wall near the northern project limit;
*	Provide signing and marking;
*	Provide landscaping.

Bryan Seipp leads a walk around the C&O Canal to help visitors identify some common tree species found in the Potomac River watershed.
