Clerk-Treasurer Polak reported that the voter qualification amendment to the Town charter was passed last month. It was circulated to town residents. Mayor Beers said that it must be posted for 40 days following adoption and must be published four times in a newspaper before it becomes effective. BOOK WINS AWARDS

Yale resident Carol Barton’s pop-up Pocket Paper Engineers workbook Vol. 2, coming out in a few weeks, has already won two prestigious awards for its design. The Washington Book Publishers Association has awarded it the "Best Illustrated Book" award; it also is a finalist in the National Indie Book Awards competition.
The Pocket Paper Engineer, Vol. 2, covers how to make pop-up platforms, props, spirals and straddles. (Carol constructed the large pop-ups of the town and of Glen Echo Park, displayed in the town hall, by using the pop-up prop technique).
As publisher of her book, Carol went to China in February to oversee production. Presently the book is making its way through the Panama Canal, and should clear customs in Chicago any day now.
