Glen Echo Park site manager Kym Elder reported that the National Park Service has still not made a determination as to whether or not it claims ownership of Oxford Rd.. This issue has been outstanding for more than a year, despite requests from the town for a settlement of the issue. Its resolution will enable the town and NPS to address improvements to Oxford Rd. and a possible reconfiguration of the park entrance. In order to expedite action, Ms. Elder suggested that the town send a letter to the NPS superintendent. Mayor Beers indicated that she would do so.
Ms. Elder also informed the Town Council that regional director Joe Lawler will be retiring effective August 1, 2008. No replacement has been named yet.
