April 14

Improvements to the town hall continue slowly but surely. New smoke alarms and emergency lights have been installed. The council approved expenditures for the replacement of the sinks, faucets and plumbing traps in the restrooms.

Councilmember Nancy Long reported that she was not able to negotiate a substantially lower price from John Shorb Landscaping to maintain the new town parks. it landscaped at Princeton and University Aves. The council will therefore seek a bid from Chapel Valley Landscaping, which currently maintains the town’s green spaces. One of the issues with the Shorb company was the extra charge it would impose for watering, a concern given the amount of water that the new shrubs and trees will require.

Text Box: TAKE A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE

This is the time of the year when residents need to take a walk alongside their property to see if any of their vegetation is hanging over or intruding on the sidewalk in such a way to inconvenience pedestrians.

And this is the time to cut it back.
