Text Box: 	A photo of the entire Niles family of Vassar Circle riding the carousel is featured  in Glen Echo Park’s just-published “2007 Annual Report and Five-Year Retrospective.”  The article says that Justin, 5, and Hannah, 9, have “literally grown up in Glen Echo…and look forward with great anticipation to the day each spring when the Dentzel carousel opens for the season.”  In the photo, John and Amy appear to be enjoying themselves on the carousel as well.

	Gwendolyn T. Britt, a Prince George’s County senator, died suddenly last month at the age of 66.  She made Glen Echo Park history in 1960 when she carried a placard calling for the desegregation of the amusement park, which at the time was off-limits to blacks.  She was arrested for riding the carousel during that protest.  When former Montgomery County executive Douglas M. Duncan was contemplating entering the race for governor, he considered her as his running mate, according to “The Washington Post.”

	Bryn Mawr resident Tom Manatos was interviewed by The Washington Post  last month because of his noteworthy involvement in current Democratic campaigns.  As the adviser to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, he follows in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, both of whom were advisers to Democratic presidents. In the interview, he expressed his greatest fears as global warming and the growth of world terrorism.  He also revealed that in July he would cross party lines to marry a former staffer for George W. Bush..

	Cabin John will have their annual Bingo Night on Feb. 8 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Bingo cards will be $5 per card.  Pizza slices and drinks will be available.

Text Box: for the 2008 primary on Feb. 12 and the Nov. 4 general election may download an application from www.777vote.org.  Election judges received a stipend for attending training, attending a pre-election meet and working on Election Day..

	Eleanor Balaban is among several artists who have been chosen by the United States Botanical Garden to exhibit their quilts in an exhibit entitled "A Stitch in Vine".  There will be 19 quilts exhibited from Feb 16-Apr 27th in the gallery at the Gardens in front of the Capitol building from 10-5 every day of the week.  All the artists are members of the Chesapeake and Potomac Applique Guild which meets locally each month. 

	Glen Echo will be losing some long-time residents when the Wells family of Bryn Mawr Ave. moves to Jakarta, Indonesia.  John has already started his new job there as Director of Operations and Director of Corporate Risk Management for PT. ERM Indonesia, the Indonesian operating company of Environmental Resources Management.  The company is a global 3,000 employee firm that advises corporations on environmental and social safeguards.  Michele and the rest of the family will join him there in June.  India is just finishing her senior year at Whitman.  Charlie will have one year at Jakarta International School.
