Text Box: Park report

Glen Echo Park Site Manager Kim Elder reported at the Dec. 10 council meeting that new signage for Adventure Theatre had been approved by the National Park Service and was currently being fabricated. The neon sign will be inset onto the building as opposed to sitting on the lip of the outcropping as the Puppet Theatre sign is.
She said the Victorian Christmas event at the Clara Barton house had to be cancelled this year due to continued renovation. She said the air quality checks came back with no reports of contamination and the park service is continuing to paint the house.
Ms. Elder questioned how snow removal on Oxford Road was going to be handled this year, since the ownership and responsibility for the road is still being debated. She expressed concern because after the light snowfall the town received in early December, the hill was iced over and slick the next day.
The consensus of the council was that the street had been plowed too early in the snowfall and that the operators should be asked to increase the amount of sand and salt they lay down on Oxford Road.PARK REPORT
