Text Box: TOWN COUNCIL NOTES
December 10

The placement of a community bulletin board is being considered. After it was deemed inappropriate in either of the town parks, members of council considered an alternate placement near the entrance to the town hall. Clerk-treasurer Cathie Polak stated that if the bulletin board was conveniently located to her office, she would have no problem neatening the board and discarding old information.
The town has selected A. Morton Thomas to be the company to survey and sample the streets of Glen Echo. Councilmember Kogelnik believes the company will be able to make its recommendations by the February town council meeting.
Resident Eleanor Balaban wanted to report the numerous street light outages to the council. She stated that the Pepco customer service representatives she had been dealing with all seemed to want different information. In some cases they want the pole number; in other cases the closest street address was acceptable.
She also expressed confusion of which number was the correct one to call. [The Echo has published the information that the best way to report street light outages is on-line with a new system inaugurated by Pepco. Go to www.pepco.com. Once on the Pepco home page, click on “Report street light outage.”]
The Blues Dance group has received permission to use the town hall on January 20 while the floor is being replaced in their current ballroom. Town members are invited to attend for free.
