Text Box: Councilmember Robin Kogelnik concurred, but Councilmember Steve Matney suggested that the council donate to the capital campaign instead of underwriting a performance and perhaps reduce the amount requested.
Mayor Beers pointed out $1,500 was the same amount the town donated to GEPPAC. GEPPAC provides management, facilities and promotion for all the operators at Glen Echo Park.
The motion to donate $1500 to Adventure Theatre was passed with 3 in favor and Councilmember Matney abstaining.
Mayor Beers then requested that the same amount be donated to GEPPAC. A motion to that effect passed unanimously.

*Mr. Bobbitt later clarified that the rent of Adventure Theatre through September 2008 is $39,600 per year, and thereafter will be $39,600 plus 5% of its earned income.

Councilmembers Nancy Long and Eve Arber told the town council on Dec. 10 about further fine-tuning of the proposed plantings for the two town parks. While some plantings had been removed from the plans, others had been added. The $22,800 estimate had not changed as a result of these changes.
Mayor Beers said that a couple of town residents have approached her and asked the town set aside part of the new park for a vegetable garden. She stated she didn’t think this was what Shirley Strong intended when she donated the space to the town. She suggested if this was an issue town residents wanted to continue to pursue, perhaps they could use part of the right of way for this purpose.
The council approved the landscaping and planting contract with John Shorb Landscaping.
Maintenance contracts for the parks are still under review.
