Text Box: COUNCIL CONSIDERS HAVING
BULLETIN BOARD IN PARK
By Kathleen Kotcher

Councilmember Steve Matney described to the town council last month the community bulletin board in Brookmont, which is in a central location and where residents can post anything they wish. He suggested perhaps such a bulletin board could be installed in one of the town parks. Mayor Beers expressed concern that it would be prone to creating litter, but Councilman Matney stated he never noticed a problem with litter at the Brookmont community board and didn’t think it would be a problem here.
The council also took up a complaint by Echo editor Carlotta Anderson that too much information about Glen Echo Park was being posted by someone on the town bulletin board at the entrance to the post office and that it was crowding out information about the town. The board has been used primarily to post articles from The Echo for people to read as they use the post office. The council decided to restrict the board to town-specific events and announcements as well as the posting of Echo articles.
