Text Box: RIVER CENTER AT LOCK 8
RE-OPENS SATURDAY, MAY 5

	The River Center Lockhouse at Lock 8 of the C&O Canal will open for another season on May 5 and will remain open weekends from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. throughout the summer.  It is operated by the Potomac Conservancy to promote the history, culture and ecology of the Potomac River and the C&O Canal.
	On Sunday, May 6, Reed Martin will entertain visitors on his banjo in the “Voices of the River” program.
	The lockhouse will be staffed by docents who will tell visitors about its history and show the new exhibit “Backyard to the Bay.”
	Docents are always needed to help visitors learn about past and present human influences on the Potomac River Watershed and what they can do to make a difference in the health of the river.  To inquire about volunteering, contact Judy Welles are welles@potomac.org.
Text Box: CONCERT MAY 25

	Guitarist Bob Zentz will be performing at the Glen Echo Town Hall on Friday, May 25, at 8:00 p.m. under the auspices of the Folklore Society of Greater Washington.  The concert is free to town residents.
	Bob Zentz has been performing for more than 30 years on the autoharp, lute, melodeon, mouth harp, banjo, concertino and mandolin in addition to the guitar.  He specializes in historical and maritime music.  He will be accompanied by his daughter, Skye.

	There are a few locations in town where pedestrians have to duck under overhanging branches in order to proceed on their way.  If you think that might be the case at your property, it would be appreciated if you would trim the overhanging foliage to a height of at least seven feet.

All Town Dog Owners – Please be courteous and clean up after your dog.  This is particularly important in the field between Oxford Road and the park parking lot, where town children frequently play.  Thank you.
