Glen Echo Park does not yet have a budget for 2007, although the President has set forth the budget for 2008, park site manager Kym Elder told the Glen Echo Town Council last month. She said the 2008 budget looks promising, with many projects slated, including demolition of the maintenance shed and its replacement by a new building.
She stated that the park is moving forward on plans for the newly-remodeled Candy Corner, which will have an exhibit focusing on civil rights and integration of the park.

Text Box: RECONSTRUCTED YELLOW BARN
OFFICIALLY OPENS MARCH 1

The Yellow Barn studio, which was reconstructed in the last year, will officially open March 1 for art classes under the direction of Walt Bartman. It will be one of the major art spaces in the metropolitan area. A grand opening celebration is planned for late spring, according to Glen Echo Park site manager Kim Elder.
. With the addition of its upstairs area, there will be at least two new spaces for resident artists. The spaces are quite small -- one on the first floor and one on the second. Because of the unusual configuration of the second floor space, it might be able to serve as two studios, although each would be very small. The spaces would not be suitable for classes, but could perhaps be used for demonstrations to incorporate the required educational component in this way. The period for applying for these spaces is now over.
