Text Box: EERIE FILM WITH ORIGINAL MUSIC
SHOWN AT HALLOWEEN PARTY

The adult Halloween party on Saturday, Oct. 28, featured a silent horror film made in 1920 in Germany. It was accompanied by music written and performed for the film by John Battema.
The film “The Golem: How He Came Into the World” was a version of the golem legend set in 16th century Prague. After the film, members of the audience spoke at length with composer Battema about silent films and his creation of the keyboard music to accompany this particular one.
The event was part of the regular last-Saturday-of-the-month film festival in Glen Echo and was arranged by town council members Dan Macy and Steve Matney..
