AROUND TOWN
Text Box: TOWN STILL SEEKING
FURNACE REPLACEMENT
By Sophie Keefer

The town is seeking consulting engineers for the work on the HVAC system in the town hall and Gloria Levin, who has been trying to find a company to replace the furnace, reported that she had obtained recommendations from Joanne Murray, the architect for the ADA renovations to the town hall.
She told the town council last month that she had called CTA in Rockville and that the person she spoke to seemed interested. She also contacted KES Engineers, a smaller company.
Mayor Debbie Beers clarifies that the post office is not on a separate system, but that the town pays all the utilities and takes this into account in charging the rent, although there are two electric bills.
Councilman Steve Matney suggested that the clerk/treasurer contact the post office and tell them we are working on our system and need to see the plans from their renovation to make sure there is no impact.
Ms. Levin also reported that Joanne Murray urged the town to think about its energy needs and possible changes in sources of energy, such as considering asking the gas company to run a gas line across MacArthur Blvd.
