Text Box: EVENT LEADERS NEEDED
FOR LOCKHOUSE 8 PROGRAM

As the Potomac Conservancy prepares the new River Center at Lockhouse 8 on the C&O Canal for its second full season of operation, it is seeking volunteers to lead recreational activities and outreach events.
Volunteers are encouraged to share their knowledge and talents: lead a naturalist walk, teach a wood-carving class, or give a banjo lesson. Volunteers are also needed to act as docents, answering questions from visitors.
The River Center offers visitors a new understanding of the Potomac River, its connection to the Chesapeake Bay, and what they can do to protect these special resources. Located about a half-mile upstream from Glen Echo, it will be open from May 6 through October.
To lead an educational activity, contact Heather Montgomery, conservation program assistant, at montgomery@potomac.org. For additional information about becoming a docent, contact Judy Welles, River Center Director, at welles@potomac.org.
