Text Box: EDIE SPRINGUEL TO DO
TRIATHLON IN APRIL

Vassar Circle resident Edie Springuel will be participating in her first triathlon on Apr. 9 to benefit Cure Autism Now and the YMCA Youth and Family services. This Bethesda event is a mini-triathlon, somewhat shorter than a regular triathlon. It consists of a 500 meter swim, a 10 mile bike ride and a 2.5 mile run.
Edie says the hard part for her will be the run, although the other two segments will still be a challenge. She believes in “starting small and working my way up,” which is an especially commendable goal in light of her having passed the half century mark a couple years ago.
Her goal is to raise $100 for the two sponsoring charities. Anyone who would like to help her can go to the website at http://cantriathlon.org and click on “Bethesda CAN Triathlon/Dualthlon Registration.” Search under the top fundraisers, click on M. Edith Springuel and make a donation.
Also, she said, anyone with helpful advice can email her at EdieSpringuel@comcast.nt.
Text Box: ATTENTION: IMPORTANT PUBLIC MEETING

The National Park Service will be holding a public meeting at the Glen Echo Town Hall on Thursday, Mar. 23, at 7:30 p.m. to review possible changes in the traffic pattern in and out of the Glen Echo Park parking lot.
One alternative that has been mentioned is to have traffic both enter and exit from the upper parking lot access road on Oxford Rd. instead of having the entrance by the Clara Barton house. In that event, only vehicles bound for the Clara Barton House would proceed down Oxford past University Ave.
There have been continuing problems with vehicles speeding down Oxford Rd. and not stopping at the University Ave. stop sign, where a crosswalk is located.
All residents who are concerned about this problem are encouraged to come and have their voices heard.
